Tanya moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina in 2010 from South Carolina, where she gained experience in teaching and early childhood development. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Teaching from The University of South Carolina in 2004. She began her work as an Early Childhood professional in 2005 at an integrated arts school in Columbia, South Carolina and continues her career today at The Treehouse. She currently resides in Weaverville with her husband and 2 young sons.
Tanya has experience teaching Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, as well as serving as a Parent Educator and program coordinator for a state-accredited family literacy program. She has a passion for parenting and a deep love of young children. She is now truly enjoying living out her dream of creating a community of parents and children who learn and grow together.
Damon's first priority at the Tree House is to directly engage with the children and their families as a friend. Additionally, he works diligently to keep the school clean and safe so that Tanya can spend her time sharing her considerable ability, talent, experience and education with the kids. His work on the property and the interior of the school enables him to work with students and family in a quality space created with intention, love, and passion for educating and guiding the growth of the children under his care.
While Damon is away from work, his personal interests include spending time with his wife Tanya and his son's Pierce and Nolan, running, meditation, gardening, mowing grass, taking care of their chickens, cutting/splitting/stacking firewood, watching football/baseball/basketball, working with MANNA food bank and renovating his 90+ year old home.
